There have been stories emerging this week of agreement being reached in The Netherlands for a relaxation of their implementation of the cookie law, which is likely to be welcomed by website owners.
Although details are unclear, a move away from the strict opt-in approach which resulted in many sites putting up ‘cookie walls’ to gain consent prior to landing on a site.
It seems this is going to move towards much more of an implied consent or possibly a soft opt-in model. However it is possible that explicit consent may still be needed for third party tracking cookies.
There are no official announcements on the changes yet, but we will of course keep you posted as they emerge.
