Latest Cookie Facts and Figures

We have been collecting cookies in our database now for nearly a whole year, but every time we take a look at the data, we find something new.

For example, we have found that over half of all websites have some third party cookies, which are the type that can track you from one site to another.

But who would have guessed that nearly 20% of websites in our database only use third party cookies.  Could it be possible that the only purpose of these sites is to place tracking cookies?

We decided recently to take a look at which sites are setting the most cookies. The top 20 is below.

As you can see, the numbers are astonishing. No great surprise Facebook is topping the list, and Google, Amazon and YouTube feature prominently.  But the big UK newspapers, and the good old BBC are obviously watching everybody closely as well.

And This is Grimsby?  Who knew.
