Cookie Collector Updated

The Cookie Collector plug-in for Firefox has been updated to version 1.1, so please download it today to continue helping us build a picture of the state of cookies on the web.

The previous version was recording full URL pathways for pages that were requesting or placing a cookie on users machines.

After some initial analysis we realised that in some cases these URL pathways contained user names that might have identified individual people.

Our intention was never to collect such information – we are interested in the cookies, not who has them or what data they contain.

Therefore this new version 1.1 no longer records these full URLs, and we have removed existing URLs from the system.

We believe that the majority of users will now have version 1.1 but we ask that if you have any doubts, to please download the new version from the site today, and it will automatically update.
